Neal Cassady

A Lecture by Steve Edington
Monday, February 11 at 7:00 p.m.

Neal Cassady (1926-1968) was the prototype for the Dean Moriarty character in Jack Kerouac's "On the Road." But Cassady was a far more complex figure than his character, and he was the muse for many of the Beat Generation writers. Cassady's life swung between that of a family man and that of an often reckless, free spirit as Kerouac and others made him out to be. This presentation by Steve Edington will explore these two sides of Neal Cassady

Steve Edington is the minister of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashua, New Hampshire and the current President of the Lowell Celebrates Kerouac! Committee in Lowell, MA. He presented a program on Kerouac at the Library in September. This program is presented by the Friends of the Library.
