The Rotary Club of Medford
One of the Rotary club's missions is to promote literacy. Each year they distribute dictionaries to every third grader in Medford. They are excited to be a part of the Medford Community Read.

The Medford Senior Drop-in Center's Creative Reading & Writing Class
They read the book Dark Tide by Stephen Puleo several years ago and it became a favorite. One of the members even wrote to Clint Eastwood and author Stephen Puleo suggesting that they produce a movie based on the book - no word back on that yet! The group decided to read the book after one of the members, Charles "Chick" LaPenna (who has since passed away) shared his experience of being two streets over from where the molasses flood took place. He saw it coming down the street very slowly, covering everything in its wake. He had vivid memories of horses screeching and people going up to the residue with spoons to taste the molasses.
